Judicial Protection
The Judicial Protection Unit has 11 full-time sworn, 3 part-time sworn and 5 civilian employees assigned to the Wicomico Circuit and District Court.
The Wicomico Circuit Courthouse processed over 133,000 visitors through the building this year. The screening process identifies contraband as defined by the Wicomico County Chief Administrative Judge. On average, there are over 1,500 items seized as contraband yearly *(ammunition, cans of mace, razors and knives are examples of some of the items seized).
The Circuit court now operates 5 courtrooms 3 out of 5 days of the week. There are 4 full time Circuit Court Judges and 1 full time Circuit Court Master. The Wicomico County Circuit Court receives visiting Judges from surrounding counties to fill any vacancies that occur during the work week.
